Germany, officially known as the Federal Republic of Germany, is a federal parliamentary republic located in Central–Western Europe. The federation comprises 16 states, covers an area of 357,021 km², and has a largely temperate seasonal climate. With a population of approximately 83 million, Germany is the most populous member state of the European Union.
